Well, last night was a roaring success!! My team held a Robbie Burns scotch-tasting fundraiser at the Dish and the Runaway Spoon. Alison and Grant from Aligra Wine and Spirits walked us through 8 different fine scotches, explaining how/where they were made and what flavours to look for. Their knowledge was very impressive. The Dish created 8 tasty Scottish-themed meal-by-the-bite appetizers. The owner, Carole Amerongen, was fantastic to work with: flexible, personable, professional and fun. We had a bagpiper, haggis, toasts, jokes and I even sang a wee ballad.
Heartfelt thanks to Andrew Hopkyns, who came up with idea, organized every detail and sold most of the tickets. It simply would not have happened without Andrew!
Thanks to the staff at the Dish for working so hard: they even stood outside to cool glasses fresh out of the dishwasher. We went through over 400 glasses last night!
Thanks to my campaign manager, Jacquie Lycka who sold tickets to her entire family I think!
Thanks to Edmonton-Mclung candidate John Hudson for taking time off his campaign to support mine.
Thanks to Cam Wallace, who donated his piping skills and looked absolutely fantastic. I found out last night that Cam is also a visual artist!
Thanks to everyone who made toasts- they were all great!
And of course, thanks to everyone who showed up. I hope you had as much fun as I did.
Next fundraiser will be in February. Stay tuned!!
